MALON MAAT

I am Malon Maat, born with a passion for the trumpet that would shape and enrich my life. My journey through the world of music began in 2004 when I started playing the flugelhorn. Later, I changed to the trumpet, starting my artistic journey.

In the early years of my musical development, I already loved making music and didn't shy away from any challenge, leading me to join the Class for Young Talents of the ArtEZ Conservatory Zwolle in 2011. Here, my love for the trumpet flourished, and my ambitions began to grow.

In 2019, I entered the next phase of my musical journey when I earned my Bachelor's degree at the Prins Claus Conservatorium Groningen under the guidance of Bob Koertshuis. My graduation marked a period where I turned my passion into concrete achievements.

Then it was time to push my boundaries. I decided to move to Essen, Germany, to pursue my Master's degree with Prof. Laura Vukobratović. Here, I was immersed in a rich cultural environment and had the opportunity to refine my talents.

Currently, I find myself in the vibrant cultural capital of Europe, Berlin, where I continue my Master's studies at the University of the Arts under the guidance of Prof. Gábor Tarkövi. Here, I am challenged to sharpen my skills and broaden my horizons under the direction of one of the world's most respected trumpeters.

During the 2023/2024 season, I had the opportunity to play as Assistant Principal with the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. This experience with such a renowned orchestra has left a lasting impression on my career. It was a period of growth and a valuable addition to my musical journey. Since January 2025, I have been working as Assistant Principal with the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker.
